Jacks for a Lifted Taco

Problem was I had lifted my Taco and had a spare that matched the 33s I had on the truck, but I could not change a flat because the stock jack would not reach the frame. So I bought a Hi Lift jack that I could use on the back with the receiver for the hitch but I could not get the front wheels up because the Hi lift would not reach under to get to the frame, no strong frt bumper to lift from, no sliders.

Looked at the lift the wheel accessory for the Hi lift, not a fix for me.

Looked at welding an attachment to the frame to allow the Hi Lift to pick the front wheel up. Didn't like welding to the frame unless I have to.

So I finally came on the solution. Add 6 in to the stock jack. It still fits in the compartment in the truck and it is a cheap fix untill I can get sliders on the truck.

So here it is the cheap temp fix

 

idk how sturdy that will be but better than nothing in a pinch i guess

 

Scary!!! Use a jack when under it! Very ingenuitive though.

 

Umm, couldn't you just put the stock jack under the lower control arm or the rear axle?

 

couldt you just stick some pieces of wood betwen the jac and the frame ????

 

Im currrently running 33's and had to buy a replacement bottle jack. Went to Wally World and bought a 6ton Black Jack hydrolic bottle jack that fits in the same area as the stock jack. It can easily lift and provide more than enough clearance from more than one lifting spot. The best part is that it only cost $15!!! I dont have to worry about lugging around an extra 50 lbs and having to secure extra.

 

Never get under a truck with only a jack holding it up!

I thougt about using rocks, wood, Dead Cows )) and such, thats just to easy, got welding to do so welding was the answer. Using a lower point to lift from ment crawling under the truck on the side of the road. Thats not how I roll. To easy

I jacked the truck up last night with my ingenius contraption and it works good. Not unstable as long as the wheels are chocked and brake is set. No more unstable than a Hy-Lift Used the factory lift point where the frame and the cross member cross. Set the jack and raise it from the side of the truck using the linkage supplied with the jack. The idea here is to use this on the side of the road where you don't have all the stuff you have in the garage.
