Throttle by Wire Information

They are made in a way that is easy to understand. I know I saw a link that was posted where a person said that "shim" would not work and they thought the pedal issue was a smoke screen. I was going to go through a counter study to show how it would, but this is MUCH easier. In short, on the pedal design, the harder you step on the pedal, the more force the spring would put on the friction slider if there is wear under the seat. If you look, you will see that the shim limits how much the friction pawl can rock, preventing it from locking down. It makes sense that this condition would show up when someone would "mat" the gas pedal.

The other video just explains a little of the TBW technology that is common to almost every system out there, regardless of brand.

I thought these facts would be good to add to the discussion here.

Thanks. I just wanted to get some facts out there. I know there are people that will not accept this because it is from a Toyota site. That is too bad. The description of the technology and the failsafes is accurate. There is even more to it than what they go into.

I think it is hilarious how little play this thread is getting as opposed to the "My truck will not stop", "my Toyota ran away" and other fire and brimstone titles are getting. It is sad really.
