2005 PreRunner V-Belt Squealing

Hello,

I have 2005 PreRunner and replaced the V-Belt twice since purchasing it, still under warranty. Now I have 80,000 miles and still dealing with the squealing V-Belt. Is anyone else having this problem?

I don't think it's the pulley. It doesn't squeal all the time, nomally when it rains and it continues for a couple days and then stops. Had someone check it out not to long ago and they said the belt look good and it has automatic tension so they couldn't tighten it.

 

sounds like the Pulley to me. It can still be intermittant if it's the pulley.

Had the same thing happen to me on a ranger and I thought is was the belt. After belt was replaced still had the problem -- checked the idler pulley and sure enough there was slop in the bearing. $15 and 30 min later problem was solved.
