Got a P0705 code on my 06 PreRunner with 50k miles. No alterations to the wiring have been made. The TSB says:
TOYOTA: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE. SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A MIL ON CONDITION WITH DTC P0705 (TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION (PRNDL INPUT)) STORED. COMMON SYMPTOMS WITH THIS DTC CAN INCLUDE POSSIBLE DELAYED ENGAGE ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10030909 )
I do get the delayed engage (4 or 5 secs) when moving from reverse to drive. If I shift it fast enough it's ok. Took it to the dealer because the TSB says POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION" but I was told it was not covered under the powertrain warranty. They said the fix was to ...get this...change the complete front end wiring harness, as well as Junction Block #1. The service rep couldn't tell me where the "Junction Block #1" was located. All he could tell me that it would run between $1500 and $2000 to repair it. Anyone else ever had this issue? Any recommendations would help.
