What over-sized oil filter are people using.

I read an article stating it is not negative to run an over-sized oil filter.

    1. More oil is need...more oil = better lubrication.
    2. It has more space to collect debris.
    3. Oil flows smother/faster.

Please refer any links if this topic has been covered extensively.

    Thanks,

    Al

Thats what often I use on my 2.7 liter 4 cylinder. That or a standard sized TRD PTR43-00080.

I ran some tests posted here and it (PureONE) does really good for me:

    This morning:
    '07 Tacoma, 4 cylinder.
6.1 qts Toyota OEM 0W-20 (purchased in quarts from dealer)
    Toyota TRD PTR43-00080 filter

I went all Toyota stuff this time around.
...I love the efficient full synthetic media in the TRD filter and the huge dose of moly in the Toyota oil.

    Updated!
For those of you who are listed several times for using several different types of filters & oils/weights..... Is there a paticular reason for the change?
Like for instance...if you change your oil weight, is it because of the cold weather?

I might want to list that in the original list...
    Thanks!

For me, it was just new information. I change periodically anyway, but having seen a recent lab analysis of a sample of virgin Toyota 0W-20, (posted on bobistheoilguy.com forums) and recently discovering a 98% efficient @ 20 microns TRD filter part number available for my truck, I switched.
Filters and oil formulations change from time to time, and I try to keep informed with these rating and analysis.

(I never was much for marketing hype. LOL)

Purolator filters are very good and I have excellent experience with Chevron Supreme dino oil (it's inexpensive too).

Chevron and its Havoline cousin in dino versions have lots of Moly and the UOA's on BITOG are 98% excellent. When nothing else is on sale I look for these.

    Not necessarily....

I'd like to stick with oils/filters that people on the forum have experience using.
