2008 transmission fluid check

    I just purchased a new tacoma and there is no dip stick for auto transmission how do you check and refill this trasmission?

    not 100% but i think they are running world standard fluid now and it wont have to be changed for 100,000 miles. there is actullly a special tool toyota dealers have to refill those transmissions. its a sealed bottle with a pump on it.

    In all my research I was told they are somewhat sealed transmissions with no dip stick and yes that they have "special tools" to service them

    "world fluid" or not. I plab on serviceing mine. A friend had a VW with the "world fluid synthetic" in it, and at 100,089 miles, the tranny let go. I'll figure out a way to check and maintain it. :)

    From what I have discovered so far, there is no "special" tool. Seems to be a special procedure involving temp, and such. Asking the dealer got me nowhere. Go figure. :rolleyes:

    Ah. Thank you. Those are pretty cheap and are nothing more than a pump for any type of fluid. I use one for my differential oil changes.

    i recommend only using the dealer to check or replace trans fluid. i'm a vw tech in so cal and those trans are very picky about the fluid level. vw trans are made by aisian who i beleive is owned by toyota. with wrong fluid type or level ther WILL be shifting concerns. temperature is important when filling/checking.:cool:
