Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The VSC/ATRAC is Toyota's Electronic verison of a Limited Slip Diff. So, you basically have the same thing.

Jegs is a big aftermarket supplier, like Summit, or Quadratek (sp?)

VSC/TRAC are standard on the 2009+ Tacomas. But A-TRAC is not. Active Traction Control or A-TRAC is only available on the Off-Road model trucks.

    I know... Similar names.

    Fixed it for you. :D

The wiring may be there - I thought I saw a thread on that. Think about it - It is just software burned on some chip in the Anti-Lock brake computer.

For anyone that may be interested. If you alter the geometry of your suspension such that you require a front end alignment adjustment, then you should have the VSC recalibrated. The dealer can do this service for you, or I believe you can do it yourself. There are two steps to complete the process:

    1. Clearing zero point calibration data.
    2. Yaw rate sensor and deceleration sensor zero point calibration
    Here is the procedure.

Because the OP is running 37" tires, he would want to have this service done.

Unfortunately there are hardware differences. The 2009+ Off-Road models have a hydraulic brake booster, whereas non-off road (Sport /SR5) models have a vacuum brake booster. The wiring diagrams are also very different as are the modular plugs for the various ECU's.

It is presumed that A-TRAC requires much more hydraulic pressure thus the change in hardware.

If you or anyone else is interested I be glad to share any technical diagrams I have on the subject. (PM me).

Thanks. FWIW, I do hold you in high regards. How many people around here have done a solo job regearing both front and rear diffs? :D That is totally awesome and way beyond my experience.

Either way he needs to probably be very careful with that. Would be nice to know if truetrac works and how it works with electronic traction controls. I am subbed to this thread so hopefully we will know.:)

All 09+ have VSC. ATRAC is only on TRD Offroad trucks.

I just read up on Trutrac. Am I correct in believing it's a drop in differential made by Eaton?

It's a mechanical LSD, so yes. You just bolt the ring up to it and throw it in (set-up required of course).

My info is based on people who have done it. That is the part they used. Again, they weren't 09's though.
