It took my truck a few days to level out after cleaning.

Great write up. Working in a dealership myself (sales manager) and having a father-in-law who is a BMW master tech, I know how much it costs to do these simple things at the stealership (learned that phrase here, now part of my vocab). Ethical techs are hard to come by. My father-in-law is pretty old school and will try to fix things for the customer in the service drive because he tells them and I quote, "If i write an RO and it comes into my garage, it's going to be expensive!" That kind of attitude is rare these days in the service drive though (and probably why he was recently willed a mint 74 BMW 2002 by a loyal customer). Not only did this save me money and make my truck run better, it also gave me an excuse to crush an Oly and then drive my truck really fast!!!!! This sunday is spark plug day!!:woot:

Nice write up, I have done this on my 03 Taco but have used a rag not a brush, and BG products.

You are welcome. It is super easy. If I wasn't photgraphing it probably would have taken 30 minutes to an hour.

I just replaced my water pump this last wknd and would have liked to have done the pictures. It took me about 3 hrs. This could help quite a few people save about $400. IF I find the time I could try to do it just for the fun of it. Things like this are great for the basic mechanic. TW is a damn great deal of info and entertainment:D

Too bad you didn't do the pictures. That sure would have helped alot of people. If you do any repairs in the future take pictures. Maybe you can help another TW person in your area that needs a water pump & take pictures.

I cut the red arrows out from a box lid. I've seen lots of write ups & youtube videos that didn't show exactly what to do. Their pictures were just pictures of the area & they expected people to know what they were talking about. That is how I came up with the arrows. I wanted it to show exact details, so even the people with zero skills could do it.

Well just did this to my 2008 Tacoma. It was really black inthe throttle body. Took me about 2 hrs to thoroughly clean it and put it back together. Everything works great and no screw ups and no left over parts. This was a great write up Sean and a great appreciation. Thanx

I'm going to do this to my new to me Tacoma next weekend. I may go deeper though. If these engines have a plunger style idle air control I will pull that apart and clean it as well. ( I havent been into the engine yet so I'm not sure ). I have found the truck has a rough idle so it's getting a full tune up in my garage next weekend.
