1st Oil Change - Need Strength of Zeus

So I'm out of the break in period, just hit 1k miles on my 2010 DC. I decided to change the oil and filter like I've always heard is a good idea. Got the oil drained out, but the damn oil filter must have been put on by a gorilla. I'm gonna wait until the engine cools to try this again, that's my last recourse. I've easily done 100 oil changes on my personal and family's cars and NEVER have had this much trouble with a filter. Any ideas on how to get this off without stabbing it with a screwdriver? Worse comes to worst I'll just put new oil in and let the stealership deal with it at 5k.

 

I used a pair of welding clamps to get mine off the first time. It may have destroyed the filter but it came off!

 

You can use a pair of big channel locks, dont worry about damaging the filter, because your are replacing it. I have even punched a screw driver through them and use it as leverage. I have done it a few times on some that were really tight, just be careful on which way it turns and not to damage anything.

Remember to hand tighten it and oil the rubber seal when you put the new filter on.

 

As Celtic, I ended up using a screwdriver to punch through it to get it to turn. It sucked bad since its a 1st gen with very little room. You should have a better time of it than I did at least.
