Rolled to a stop going down the freeway....that sounds like you ran out of gas.:D

Sorry I couldn't help it. I agree with the others that it may be a problem with fuel system such as a clog

He's right. The battery light is really a combo alternator/battery light. It should always be on when the key is "on" but the engine isn't running. Ideally, it should turn on any time the volts falls below a certain level, but its just a dummy light and pretty useless. Even if the alternator died, the truck should run a good amount of time just on the battery. When I had an alternator die it certainly didn't just stop running all together, but after the battery drained down it did more of a sputtering (not every cylinder was able to fire) until I was able to get it off the road and finally every last bit of juice was out of the battery and it died. Usually dead alternators/batteries show themselves on starting since thats the time it uses the most current, but on just a dead alternator and fully charged battery, you should be able to get at least a few hours of driving in, depending on what else is running and if you ran it down while driving, you certainly wouldn't have the power to turn the engine over.

I would vote for fuel, but it only has 40k miles and unless he put in some pretty awful dirty gas (or someone is upset with him), and the fuel pumps seem to last forever, I'm just not 100% sold on it. I cant deny that it does sound a lot like a fuel problem though so I'm going to have to vote for this.

He didn't say what engine he has, but since its an 07, it's going to have a timing chain, so a broken timing belt is out.

Then there's spark/electrical. Guess something could've happened to the ignitor or one of the sensors, but thats not really something ya hear much about either and he said it didn't throw a code.

So I'm at a loss. I do hope its nothing too serious.

Did you happen to get gas lately?

I had the same thing happen to me when my truck had 500 miles. Turns out there was water in the gas. (I had just filled the tank, and the service station had water leaking into their tank).

The station paid for all the repairs.

I hope that it isn't too serious! They make these things anymore so a person can't do any work on them themselves

When that happened to me in my old car it just stopped out of no where on the highway but it didn't run any codes. The battery light is definately telling us something here.

Had this happen with my SRT-4, wound up being the ECM fuse that blew. Sounds like the a similar story. Check ALL the fuses you can find

I'm gonna have to say alternator as well...instantly dying seems electrical, if it was fuel I think it would have sputtered out, battery the truck would still run on the alt. and wouldn't turn over. Of course the ECU controls everything so I suppose it could be that as well. Nice mystery...keep us updated I'm really curious as to what it is.

I can't wait to find out what it is. I only use Chevron or 76 Gas and I had driven it 160 miles the day prior with no issues. Hoping it is something goofy and electrical. Thanks for all the advice and I will post the solution as soon as I know!:) It is the V6 Motor.

My old truck did something similar when the fuel pump went out. It sputtered, and died in the middle of an intersection in Downtown Memphis

Since you tried cranking it up and it attempted to turn over, I say the alternator went bad. Generally when all the dash lights light up that means the alternator or battery took a dump. When the battery goes completely bad, you wouldn't have been able to try to start it back up. It wouldn't have enough juice to engage the starter.

I was kind of right too, I said it had something to do with the fuel pump.
