I have a 2008 Tacoma with the factory alarm system in it. My battery recently died and I had to replace it. Since I replaced the battery the red LED alarm light will do two short flashes, stop, then two more flashes. It does this constantly, whether the car is on or off. The alarm is not arming when I lock the doors and I tested opening the doors from the inside after locking with the remote and the alarm didn't activate.

I'm not exactly sure which alarm system I have. Usually after I arm the system the horn honks once. The back of the remote has TRW on it.

Any help on fixing this so my car alarm arms itself again would be great.

I just came across the same problem today. Have you fixed it yet?

I was able to fix it. Apparently the alarm switched into valet mode. By turning the key to on (accessory) and off three times in a row, it switched the alarm back to normal mode. I still don't have the horn honk to notify that the system is armed, but at least it arms itself now.

I just did this right now. I was able to get the alarm to work again. My horn is able to honk when the alarm is armed. Thank you for your help!
