Green 4x4 light flashing

    2008 Tacoma automatic has flashing green 4x4 light switch is in 2 wheel drive position front tires aren't engaged but truck Rpm's are high when driving as if in 4high only allowing to drive at slow speed help!!

    "Hi, new member here. I have a 2008 Tacoma with an automatic transmission. When I try to shift out of 4-hi, the the 4x4 dash illumination flashes. The front tires aren't engaged but the RPMs are high as if perhaps I was driving in 4hi, which is causing me to have to drive only at a slow speed. Can anyone lend some advice?"

    try come to a stop, put it in neutral, and turn the knob back to 2wd

    The light will continue to flash as long as the truck is running and the fault occurred. Turn the knob to 2wd, put it in park, and shut the truck off. Upon turning the truck back on, the 4wd actuator should come out of position. If the light flashes immediately upon turning the truck on and remains flashing that means that the actuator either has lost connection with the switch or else the actuator itself has seized up and is no longer working. That happened to me and upon tearing it apart I found there to be water in there that was causing the issue...

    Tried that with no luck visually checked wiring connected to actuator on front differential
    Had to remove snow from the switch due to teenager play time is it possible for thus switch to freeze as it is averaging -12 degrees here?
