What's your range for low cost? What do you consider easy? I think running some led strips is easy and fairly low cost, but your opinion may differ.

I suggest doing the LED strip lights. You can buy them inexpensively enough and they are easy to install. If you are looking for pure "light the bed" purposes, get a 5 meter long (16.4 feet) strip of the cool white 5050 SMD waterproof strips. ONLY get the strips that have the IP65 waterproofing. Anything else is junk. I install these bed lights all the time here in the shop, from white to red to blue. Even have a few ladies that want pink and purple. But remember that you cannot run the lights when on the road. Illegal.

It is illegal to run anything other than white while on the road, as far as bedlighting. Some people have said that a steady red is acceptable though. Perhaps it may be different if the bed has a topper on it, but open beds you risk getting a ticket.
