I am in the market for a new laptop and I have come to my conclusion on these 2 laptops. It's between the Alienware m11x with the I7 or the apple mac pro 13. I use my notebook mostly for online and little bit of adobe work here and there and maybe games once in a while. I would like to know what you guys would pick and why.

I have a Alienware M17x and i love it. I build my desktops but i needed a laptop so i went with the Alienware. I hate Macs with a passion, they are too fucking confusing and the OS pisses me off but that's me. I say go with the alienware.

x10000, apple's are terrible for games. In this case I would go Alienware.

I personally don't like Alienware now that Dell bought them out. I'll just stick to my desktops:)

Sounds like you got frustrated because the (X) button was on the lefthand side of the window instead of the right, got pissed and walked away!

Mac OS X is by far superior to Windows ANYTHING, even ignoring the fact that windows 7 idles at 12% CPU usage, and now that mac is all intel no one can use the "my software isn't compatible!" excuse anymore. You can play any PC game on a Mac using Bootcamp or Parallels without a problem now. I wouldn't let that be a factor in your decision making.

No but price per performance should be a factor. In this category apple fails horribly. In addition if you were to benchmark a windows game on windows vs the SAME EXACT SYSTEM running your osx with parallel or bootcamp you will see a major decrease in performance (measured in frame rates) I will gladly list the stats for each unit and their price point. And i will gladly take pics of my desktop running same configurations booted in each operating system with fraps.

In these 13" models your one major restriction will be performance. Do not sell yourself short. BTW i do own an ipad ipod iphone 4 so i dont hate em :D

Actually that is a poorly designed keyboard. My cousin has a mac book pro and she wanted me to fix it but couldnt because the OS is poorly designed wtf is up with APPs on a computer? You can't customize them for shit or upgrade the hardware. The mouse is stupid, i rather a click than a touch. Games don't run good on macs for example my friend plays Counter Strike and he gets between 60-70 FPS and my laptop gets 150-180 FPS easily. If the OS was "better" then why do Business's use them? Mac's are for gay men that like to go to starbucks and write their novels on.

i've got a 13" macbook pro and i love it. i'm a web/graphic designer and run the full adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc.) and for that and anything online it's great. but for games too, i would probably go with windows. having to run parallels or vmware or anything like that to run your games is going to get really annoying, really fast.

Vmware can be confusing to someone who isn't experienced. I used it when I was folding on my CPU. All the more reason to stick to windows

I got a good deal on my macbook pro through my school. I would totally recommend it to anyone for designing purposes.

Unfortunately as mentioned the lack of games for mac is sad. I have a couple OS games and they run good if you can find the game you want to play.

Every system has their drawbacks... you'll have to be the one to decide what you pick in the long run.

One program i miss running on my old pc is DVDFAB. The best DVD burning program ever!!!!!! :spy:

What's up typical skin head idiot?

OSX (Based on UNIX) is far more business savvy these days than you think. Especially when you talk about security for businesses.

Poorly designed keyboard? now you're just pulling stuff out of your ass. Give it up... OS X owns Windows and it's been that way since Windows dropped that POS called Vista...
