so ive been using Dropbox for about 2 weeks and this thing is great! i can sync files with my itouch/computer and the net.

all i had to do was install the program then it creates a folder on my computer and whatever i put in that folder automatically gets synced to my account on the internet and i can access it from wherever!!!!
Its pretty cool for students like myself and they have a referral program where if i refer someone we both get an extra 250 MB on top of the free 2GB of space so im sharing the love :D
    heres the link

I did some investigation into this topic a few months back and found one fatal flaw for my uses. DropBox acts as a mirror. That is, if you delete a file from your computer, eventually it will expire and disappear from DropBox.

I went with IDrive. It does not delete anything from storage, unless you specifically delete it. So, if you delete something from your machine, it doesn't eventually disappear from your online storage. It's the difference between a true "backup" and a mirror like DropBox. I can put something up there for safe keeping, then delete it from my machine and know it's there when I need it.

i currently use sugarsync, which is basically the same thing. i used dropbox for about 2 years, then switched. for $5/mo. you get 30GB to sync or back up any files/folders. you can choose which files you want merely backed up and which you want sync'd to another computer. and you can access them all from the web.
