I have a great question for an apple nerd. I recently updated to the 10.10 Yosemite on my Mac (Which i wish i never did) but it was the first update since i got my new Mac and i didn't read anything about it. However, now i can't use Final Cut Pro and i've read and read where its been a very common problem and hasn't been fixed yet. I've done the most common method by right clicking on it and following some instructions but all my transitions, video edits, etc. etc. are all gone. Friggin sucks cause thats one of the main reasons i bought my Mac.

 

Is there a way to upgrade to OS X Mavericks? I don't want Yosemite because the way they changed the usb connections it won't work with my vinyl cutter anymore.

 

You mean downgrade to it? Only way I know would be re-doing your system and erasing everything to factory, which means having to back up your files. I don't like it either, my final cut pro won't work.

 

I'm still on lion. 10.7.5 So upgrade.

 

I figured out how to restore mine back to original by hold options when turning it on and erasing everything that way. Idk if you can go back that far but it worked to put mine back to factory! Back to Final Cut Pro! woohoo

 

Apple Nerd, I need help with my iPad2 retina wifi. Ever since 'upgrading' to iOS8 this thing has turned into a brick. Safari will hang up and it won't open pages. I've searched on line an tried to turn off a few things in the system and it marginally helped. I think I'm at 8.1.1 now. iOS7 was so much better. Is there a way to go back? It looks like Apple pulled the old software to restore back.

 

This is why i stayed on IOS 7 on my iphone 5s

I don't hear a lot of problems with ios8 but there have already been too many to make me upgrade.

 

My Iphone 5 is way slower now too

 

There is a new update right now 8.1.2 this could fix your iPad2 , i have the same iPad but didnt have any issues just that it was slightly slower than before.

Or can always backup and restore your iPad and update again the IOS8.

Note: Backup first before restore

 

I though restoring it wouldn't bring it back to the original iOS that it had when new and I'd still have iOS 8.1.1. Right?

 

Yes , still will have the iOS 8 installed. No going back from that.

 

I have an iPhone 5s running the latest IOS, is there any way that instead of a contacts name showing up when they text me their contact photo shows up?

 

I don't think that is an option unless your phone is jailbroken.

I jailbroke an old iPod and didn't really care for it, but I would love to have the feature....

 

I would love to have an iphone again. Lol. Ive always had iPhones and decided to try the galaxy just to try it. I'm glad I did so I will appreciate getting an iphone again, but not so for having to wait 2 years. Galaxy s5 doesn't hold its value like the iphone does, so I can't sell it.

 

I dug an old ipod touch out. The earphone jack needs replaced. Do you know of any reputable repair shops to send it to for replacement. I took it once to a shop around here but the guy acted like it couldn't be fixed but searching online I don't see why it could not be fixed.

I keep getting this error in iTunes when I plug my phone in:

iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone. Go to the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone.

I have updated my laptop and iPhone and rebooted both and still no luck. I can't sync over Wi-fi either.

Any other tricks to get it to sync or get a backup before I am forced to restore?

 

Now a question for you, do you have a backup of the iPhone on that computer?
if yes you just need to plug in your iphone let it recognize the iphone since you did update your laptop, and click restore and it should ask you if you want it restore set at new or backup to the latest.

if that doest not help , post a screenshot on the screen.

Also could be that you need to update your itunes, another suggestion
