Ah, well if pretty much all the software that you'll be using for work is made for OSX also then go for it.

The only thing i like about MACs is the look. For me the most important thing is the performance and for a given amount of money i would always prefer a PC which is going to be much more powerful. Not to mention the problem with finding certain types of programs working on MACs. Also, most of the programs will run faster on Windows OS. The MACs hardware and software reliability are myth, according to the statistics. I think that if the budget is a factor the PC is the best choice. If there are no money limitations i would buy a Macbook for the look and a PC for the performance and versatility.
In your case, Eordonez, if you are going to use the computer for work, i do not think that there is a place for hesitations- i think that the PC is far better than a MAC.

I'd go for the windows machine because I would think that most design software was meant for windows machines.

the other downside of buying p, is vista, almost all pc's come with home edition, i would have to upgrade to ultimate in order for some programs to work.....so I'm looking at another $100-200 maybe

By the way it is possible to use Windows OS on a MAC. Of course if you do not have XP or Vista, you are going to have to buy it, which is going to cost some more money. The difference in the correlation between price and hardware stays though. The MACs are almost twice as expensive as the PCs with the same hardware components. I would not buy a laptop for $2500 if i can get one with the same hardware components for $1300( mid-class 15" macbook compared to the same type XPS). For $2500 you can get a PC with much more advanced hardware.

Of course, this is my personal opinion. There wide range of personal preferences, which have to be considered.

Macs are awesome. I have an Imac I bought back in December and it still runs just like the day I got it. I don't get any viruses or anything. There are some really nice features and programs you can run that make things much much easier.
