Sounds good! My main deterrent from buying a netbook is the tiny keyboard. But my sister has one and loves it (smaller hands maybe? ehhh). If you see any Asus brand notebooks on there take a look at them. I've owned several brands now and all my HP, Gateway, and Compaq computers have had issues. I'm now on my 3rd year with my Asus with not a single issue yet (and the battery stills holds a charge for hours). Pretty satisfied and will definitely buy another.

fun stuff coming soon! New battery, radiator and CV joints and axles. Added some Rancho RS5000 shocks.
yeah the screen was a little smaller than what i wanted with a netbook. ill check on those, mine worked perfect till the battery issue started which was about 2 yrs ago, so that would make it 3. i read compaqs had a thing with getting a little hotter than normal.

Sounds like a very solid choice NicNac22. Well thought out! Good luck at Best Buy. :)

If you need help getting the hard drive out to recover your files on the dead laptop check out a site called ifixit.com. search for your compaq model# and if they have it listed look for the one that says hard drive replacement. Step by step info with pictures. Helps a lot when i need to take apart a sony or crapple laptop. Those are the worst to get to the drives...
