Exactly! I just need to figure out how to determine angles a little easier

I have used this tool a bit, but not totally sure how it works. So theoretically, I can just draw a line where i want the tubing to run, and use this tool to turn it into a long tube, instead of just a line?

no you need a shape for it to extrude. So for round tube you would need 2 concentric circles.

Check it out. The area between the circles will be extruded along the path I drew.

i used to use google sketch up but now i use autodesk inventor. i think its a lot easier but EXPENSIVE unless you are a student. i hear solidworks sucks but i might check out those vids to see if i can work with sketch up better

yup. First draw the circles on one plane, end the sketch.

then create a new sketch on a plane perpendicular to the original plane you used. It helps to right click the plains in the "origin" menu on the left and select visibility so that you can see what's going on.

Okay so I just made a random slider jsut to see if I could. I did the main square tubing section, then did the round tubing. The "follow me" tool works good. I drew a circle on the side of the square tubing, then a line from the center of the circle, in a curve, and then parallel to the slider. Worked good, now I just gotta see if the braces along the two parellel figures work right.

nice, did you put some angle to the round part or is the whole thing just going to be flat?

Good luck getting the tube to notch properly, Im not too sure how to do that in sketch up.

I'll try to take a screen shot. I'm not sure how to lol. Yeah the tubing is bent at a 90 degree angle six inches from the square tubing, then runs along parallel

    Ok cool.

when extruding the supports from the square tube look for an option to "extrude to next". That is how I do notches in inventor.

So i got the main tube to come straight out from the square tube, then turn to a 90.

But I can not figure out how to get to come out from the square tube at a 45 degree angle, then another angle to go parallel along the length.

It's confusing me. I really need some screenshots or something

That's gonna require you to make another plane to draw on at that angle and in the right location.

you can actually send your designs from GS to a CNC machine and get whatever you want made.

sketchup sucks for making tube parts, It's a royal pain in the ass. notice from my pose that most go the notches look like shit.
