I am getting the new 8gb IPOD TOUCH for Christmas. And I was wondering what everyone likes about it, doesn't like about it, and some of their favorite apps.

I don't like that you have to deal with itunes. I bought a zune instead of an ipod.

Edit: I do like that there are a large variety of apps and you can browse the net on it.

    stock, for now
i had one for a while..It was OK, but not preferred. The screen is too small to stare at for long periods of time. Not bad for ipod use, but for a computer, no way.

best advice was posted up above, spend the extra cash for the iphone.

next ipod i buy is probably the new Nano. wanted the touch until last week when i got to check out one friend's touch and one's new Nano side by side. The new nano is a really cool little player. The wifi and touch screen are cool though and all the apps are pretty badass though.

I like my touch a lot. I've been pleased with all that it can do and the battery lasts a long time as well. Which is nice because I ski with it which is not exactly smart but I know what I'm doing out there on the hill. Anyways I like to be able to surf the web and email people on it with a decent connection. I mean you can get on Tacomaworld with it the next time you try to break the record maybe that will be the difference maker. I got to look at the construction and all the parts used in it during class one day. Its amazing all the companies and technology that was used to create this device:eek:

I enjoy my iPod touch a lot. Definitely some cool apps / games.

Works great with wi-fi. Make sure you download the "remote" app. I have a nice sound system on my PC and I use it / let it play in the house for ambient music. The remote app lets you keep full control (volume, track playlist, etc) of what's playing anywhere from within wi-fi range.

Also, when I buy movies on Blu-Ray they usually come with a free copy I can download onto my iPod. (wmv format as well)

The flashlight app is very useful. Turns it into a flashlight, LOL

I tune my guitar with my touch.

My touch lives in the console of my taco. I bought one of those adapters where you can control it from the head unit. Also very useful.

I also have the arm band holder so you can run / jog / mow / whatever while listening to your iPod.

I also use the "level" app. Turn your iPod into a bubble level. Very accurate.

Lots more, have fun with it!

The touch is basically an iphone w/o cellular capabilities. It all depends what you want to use it for. I had an iphone for a couple weeks, loved it, but didn't like ATT for a second. IMO, there service is night and day compared to Verizon.

If you have a huge library of music, videos, ect; go w/ the 16gb or 32gb Touch. If you just want a music player, you might want to just look at the Nano. I have a 8 gig nano, and love it. I just didn't want the bulk of the Touch, just my opinion.

I bought the iTouch a few months ago and returned it 2 days later. I wasn't crazy about the interface and how you surf the web. I ended up getting the new nano too (in Red). LOVE it!!!
