I have used various models of GoPro and Contour.

Contour+ would be a more equal comparison to the GoPro HD Hero2, as far as features and options (also Contour HD is not available new anymore) The only main difference would be the GoPro HD Hero2 has 120FPS video, and the Contour+ has GPS telemetry.

Both of these companies have done a great job keeping up with market demands and adding lots of new features and accessories. If I was going for something new off the shelf, the GoPro HD Hero2 would win by a landslide for being $200 less.

There are lots of things to decide on other than just price though:
    -mounting options
    -waterproofing
    -3D
    -iPhone/Android connectivity
    -wireless control
