That was a nice article. Hard to believe what we started out with years ago and who knows what we will have in the future.

Same here. When I started with my 1st computer at home it had a 4MB hard drive. I bought used IBM XT from my employer. Most software then ran from DOS. For those that have no idea what dos computer language is. Imagine every command on your computer running from your command prompt only & not in Windows.

^^ I remember this. Always running a DIR command and looking for the COM files to be able to play games.

Newest storage technology(or it was back at the end of 2011 to the first of 2012) is EMC's VMAX SSD drive cluster. We have some here at work. with loads of 400GB SSD drives. Some of our older EMC boxes have 1 & 2 terabyte sata drives.

Last time I checked we had somewhere in the 12 petabyte storage range. Most banks & Gov institutions run around the 16-18 Petabyte range.

VMAX These pictures I pulled from Google. I didn't feel like going downstairs to take pics of our boxes.

My first one had 256KB RAM, no hard drive. Insert 5.25 floppy disc with DOS on it, let it load, remove DOS disc, insert program disc, allow to load. We thought we had major upgrade when we got our second, which had a hard drive.
