    Hey all,

Been working on helping a friend get their computer running faster and started with some basic clean up stuff like spybot and malwarebytes. Anyway, after restarting, I was able to get to the log in screen and log in. However, after I log in, the screen goes blank/black.

I am able to access the desktop through safe mode. Any thoughts?

Computer is a gateway running windows 7. There are no system back ups or anything.

Do they have the original windows disc?

I THINK there may be a "repair" option

Sounds like you may be having a network adapter driver issue. In SAFE MODE, uninstall your network card driver then let it restart in NORMAL BOOT MODE and see if Windows 7 rediscovers you network card....
