Just curious if I am the only person out there that plays flight sims:
    Flight Sim X
    IL2:Sturmovik
    Falcon 4.0: Allied Force

I fly Flight Sim X on vatsim.net quite a bit when I have the time. If you guys are like me and love to fly but dont have the money to rent planes for $100/hour. This is a great way to stay on top with all your comm skills. Hook up your mic, login in, and talk to real people on ATC as you would in real life. I'm not instrument rated, but this gives me practice for the real world (Requesting and receiving IFR clearances) . I've been playing MS flight simulator since I was about 6 or 7 and loved it ever since. Check it out.

Do you have FSX or about to get it? Man, FSX is awesome but I hate how much computer resources it requires. Drives me nuts. I need to get a really nice desktop to run it. I'm running it on my XPSM1530 Laptop and it seems to do ok until my computer gets hot.

I mess around with Flight sim at my Folks house. My Dad is a Pilot, and has a dedicated computer to run the new Flight sim. He just got a 25" monitor for it. Its pretty cool, he has the throttle quadrant, rudder pedals, and all sorts of switches and shit for spoilers, flaps, gear, etc. Its pretty fun.

I bought FSX the day it came out. Then it sat for a couple of months until I could get the new XPS desktop. It runs well but nothing like the old FS9. The only addon I run with it is FSpassengers. It has lots of room on the hardrive 4 gigs of ram and a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX card. Even with that I will occasionally run out of virtual memory and the game will crash. Oh well it is still cheaper than renting in real life :)

I'm trying to find a good video to show what I'm talking about. This is about the best I can find. As of right now all I have is the Saitek X52 Joystick and Throttle and the Saitek Rudder Pedels. I'd like to get the Yoke and Throttle quadrant at somepoint but I have a wedding to pay for. :p

I generally get about 45fps, it drops to about 20 or so in bigger areas.

That has a summary of all my flights that I have made on vatsim.net. If you are familiar with flightaware.com this is kinda the same thing. I'm currently making a flight from Las Vegas (KLAS) to Houston (KIAH). For some
reason it is not currently showing my flight.

Who needs FSX when you got two of these at work?

I used to play FSX all the time until I got a job working on the real things. Without the motion system flying a flight sim just isn't the same.

Is that a ERJ cockpit? Those would be fun to have. I've seen some crazy stuff when it comes to home made cockpits.

I wish I could "play" on that!! I had an opportunity to fly the sim for the tankers here are Faichild AFB both in the old stationay and the new motion sims. The motion one was freaking intense, the graphics sucked but the feeling was soooo nice

I enjoy FSX but probably not the same level as you guys. I like to download new Aircraft all the time. My favorite right now is a Grumman F8F Bearcat.
I also play Strike Fighters but I'd rather putt around in FSX.
