Have you checked the BIOS yet for that option I mentioned? What is the model of your Dell machine. I can try to look it up for you.

The option I was asking about doesn't appear to be in your bios.

Are there any other USB devices at all besides the keyboard plugged in? If so, unplug them. Try mice again.

Also, go to support.dell.com, enter your service tag off the tower/case, and look up any available driver updates for your machine. Pay special attention to not only USB but look also for motherboard and chipset drivers. Install any you find.

Last shot, go into device manager (type this in the start box) and it should appear. Check and make sure no items have yellow exclamation points or red Xs on them.

Lastly, windowsupdate and look at optional updates, there are often system level driver updates to be found.

Delete all drivers, unplug mouse, reboot PC via keyboard. When PC is booting up plug mouse in before windows fully loads. Windows will ask for a driver, install generic. .If it fails, download drivers for mouse from manufacture, delete drivers, unplug mouse, reboot, plug mouse in, say no to driver install, install drivers from manufacture.

I didn't read the thread, just your opening post.

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
control panel, system, then click device manager, look for human interface devices, expand, right click. uninstall, do the same thing for mice and other pointing devices, uninstall hid compliant mouse, again right click and uninstall...

reboot computer with a corded mouse, wait for it to automatically reinstall the devices you removed, it should work once all is right again...

try this first, there are other things you can do, but this should work, if not, come back and I can give you some more tips...
