I was just gunna rewire, loom, and clean things up on my AMD phenom II 940 black (quad core 3Ghz unlocked) build and got sick of bleeding knuckles while working inside the antec 900 case. The case is decent, but I have kinda large hands (XXL to XXXL gloves and a glock 21 fits easily in my hand).

So, I got a coolermaster HAF X ordered (full tower), then seen a good deal on a new AMD 8350 black (8 core 4Ghz unlocked), then I of course needed to replace my MB since it was an AM 2+ and I needed the AM3+.

So I got a new asus....... Sabertooth 990FX Rev 2

its nice to have USB 3 both on the board and on the front and rear of the case, now I just need more USB 3.o shit!!!!!!! :)

Then added 16 gigs of G.skill Ripjaw X ram

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series SSD strickly for the OS and programs

Western Digital 3 TeraByte SATA III Black, HDD for media

WD My Passport Ultra 2TB for backups on der fly

    Asus Blu ray

    windows 7 Pro 64 bit

and a corsair HX series PSU

I resused the EVGA 9800GTX+ because Im not a gamer and its still working for my needs.

Asus seems very proud of the sabertooth... It comes with some certificate from an independent lab for Mil Spec testing

Im sure the card can be improved on easily and reasonably.... I am open to suggestions, and bit mining is a BONUS but not a deal breaker.... Also I NEED to run 2 monitors, and would rather run 1 card with 2 DVI outs.

Last I ordered a silverstone 120mm fan for a card cooler (with duct)
another 200mm (massive) top fan for a total of 2.

And a nice cool touch-R...... controls 4 channels of fans, offers ANOTHER USB3.0 port, and is a card reader with a digital touchscreen and temp sensor readout with variable colors. Its pretty badass.

Oh, for shits and grins, I removed the hotswap bay, and the HDD cage from the antec 900 WITH A 120MM fan slid right in, and the coolermasters filters fit right back over it!

Thats another thing, this case has fan filters for all 8 fans.

    yep, 8!

    (2) 200MM top fans (exhaust)
    (1) 230MM front fan (intake)
    (1) 120mm custom install from antec 900 HDD cage (intake)
    (1) 140MM rear fan (exhaust)
    (1) 120MM vid card cooler with duct (intake from front)
    (1) 200MM side fan (intake)
    (1) 140MM PSU Fan (mounted upside down for intake of cool air)

and its QUIET with proper setting and hums along at approx 30 celcius avg

I'm rockin' that phenom 940 like a mo-fo! You'll love that Samsung SSD if you're coming from a regular HDD.

On the case you went from a hot hs cheerleader to the heifer with 4 kids. Enjoy that size!

    LMFAO.......

The 940 did me well for years

I indeed am coming from a HDD 7200 to the samsung.

    The boot time is awesome!

also was running 4 gigs of ram in the past system

    half the cores

and the 900 case did me well for the last 4yrs I would guess.

but It was time to move on, and these HUGE fans move air soo quiet with no risk of any liquid, Im happy.

How do you like the FX8350? I used AMD exclusively for well over a decade. My last AMD chip was a Phenom II 965 @ 3900MHz. The mainboard crapped out. (Biostar TA-790GX). After much research I ended up with a 2600K and a Sabertooth Z77. I'm hoping AMD can catch up again with the desktop CPUs.

I like that fan controller, I might get one, but I've heard CoolerMaster fans don't play nice with controllers.

So far so good with the process

The controller is tied to the front fan (230mm I think), 2 silver stones, and the rear top 200mm that's right over the proc

What would be different from a controller than a 3 pin, at a MB header besides u having control at a button?

Just hoping the cm fans don't freak out.

No strange sounds, no smoke, low wattage,

Damn. That is a huge case. I built a PC last summer and went as cheap as I could while still buying decent quality and so far I have not been limited one bit on anything I can do on it, I run ultra settings on every game I try, still getting a very good fps rate AND I run two monitors. Your build definitely out does mine but a mile though!

Nice build. I prefer the Raidmax Smilodon case because both sides of the case open with a nice handle, because of those bloody knuckles.

I couple that with a modular power supply and even though the cases are an older design and it doesn't have the bonus features serves me well on my build (i7 3820 in 2012) and my wife's hand me down from 2009 (core2duo in 2009).

I've stuck with EVGA as a brand, originally because of the graphics cards but now for the mobo's as well. I've had two (one bios, one hardware) issues with motherboards (both replaced with RMA immediately after purchase for no charge at all to me) but the customer service is great and its based in the USA and you can tell the difference.
