    Guys,
I will be traveling this summer and need Internet service while on the road. I do not want to sign a two year committment with ATT so this is my plan, will it work? Add Internet service to my cell phone-take the SIM card from cell phone and place it into a Sierra Wireless device-plug Sierra Wireless device into my laptop computer. This way I can use the data plan from my cell phone service for 3-4 months then turn it off. I already have high speed service at home with another provider and do not need two full years of service from ATT that will be mostly unused. Will this plan work?
    Thanks for your help.

Get a Verizon Air Card. Awesome service awsome everything. You can use your phone as a modem (if its capable) and it will just use you minutes

Most people don't realize that you can 'tether' your phone to your laptop. You'll get the same internet. The only downside is you can't talk and browse at the same time. I don't think theres a big choke of bandwidth by using your phone either, I used to do it back before Verizon tracked their data usage, I could stream music and lower bandwidth videos, that wasn't even on the EVDO 4meg service.

My Dare can be a modem. All PDAs and some average phones can work as a modem.

But your right about browsing and the no talking thing. Thats the only thing that sucks about doing this
