I'm confused, do we need the great big iphone 6 to communicate or do we need the little I phone watch? I thought bigger was better and now smaller is better? I heard a guy on the radio say this launches today but I can't verify it on the internet.

And I would imagine you need the phone to communicate with the watch for the GPS and cell signal and what not.

It's not launching today. They should announce today when it will be available. You'll need an iPhone with the latest UI to use the AppleWatch.

What they should announce today is the all new MacAir. Which I'm excited about. It should be 12" screen only, was 11" and 13", and be Retina. It's supposed to be thinner, smaller, and fan-less. And available in the iPhone colors of Slate Gray, White, and Gold. All new processors, etc.

The new Photos app should be announced today. I'm a beta tester and so far I like iPhotos much better. But I've only had about two weeks w/ Photos.

Updates to the current MacBook Air.

And possibly some bigger announcements of what's to come in the future.

There are two theories about the watch. One group says that it will be a bomb. The other group says this will make Apple the first trillion dollar company.

    I'm sub'd even tho I'm pro Android.

It might take off for the people that don't wear a watch in general, but I can't see myself getting rid of the watch I regularly wear.

I think the OP should make this thread with a poll. My vote will be "flop".

I don't think it'll be as successful as they think..... It'll compete with all the fitness watches/bands on the market already. What else would it possible be used for that you can't use your regular phone for? It'll be a hell of a lot more expensive though.....

We're actually interested in getting some sort of fitness watch or band. I'd be interested in seeing what it can do in terms of fitness. I certainly don't need it for anything else. And for the price tag, it better blow me out of the water in terms of capabilities (I doubt it will).

Just heard a report on fitness bands, they're pretty much ALL coming up wrong in statistics lol. Best bet is continue to use your phone, if you want accurate step counts and such.

Yea, that's why we haven't jumped on anything yet.

The phone is good to record steps, but you gotta have it ON YOU at all times. I don't always carry it with me....versus ...it sitting on the desk, or sitting in a cradle or something.

That's where the watch takes over. I just can't imagine wearing that thing 24/7 either. Personally, I'm not a fitness buff but it'd be interesting to see what sort of data it will record.

Nope. $349-$10,000+. And that's from Apple. Somebody already has plans to take an Edition and Bedazzle it with diamonds and sell it for a gorillion dollars.

$50 says you have to buy a special charger that is not compatible with your phone, but you must have a phone to operate the watch. typical apple marketing.

It comes with phone but it is different. It's magnetic and sticks to the back of the phone.

To me an iwatch is a dumb idea.
Not only do I think they look cheap like a 90s digital watches but since I have my cell phone with me what do I need this for? It's a gimick imo.

If I were to invest in a watch I would go with something clean, analog and just a watch. They look way better and I have my phone if I need to do stuff like email/text/web/etc.

I really don't see the point of this... so the watch doesn't do anything the phone can't do but you need the phone in close proximity to use the watch..

Prob won't buy it myself, but I can see it selling out to all the Apple Fanboys
