I hope I can get one. What I don't understand is why we have to pay a $30 data charge on top of the voice plan. That means that $70 is the cheapest plan. What a rip-off. I would use the built in wifi for my internet usage, since the places I spend 80% of my time both have wifi available. The original iPhone did not have that stupid charge where you HAVE to pay it. I may buy one off eBay and use it.

I think the original had a $20 charge. Last I heard, was that they were raising the rate for 3G use. But I had heard rumors about data caps and reduced rates and I was curious what the current status was.

oh and supposedly the whole reason for the required data plan, was that it was required to use the iphone's standard features.

I've been holding out for a couple of months now since my contract had expired. Ordered a 16GB model last week, and should have it on Friday.

BTW, that otterbox case looks like ass, big bulky ass.

Too late. ATT is sold out, and said it will take 7-14 days before they have more in. They will have some stock at stores, but you'll have to wait in line. I think you can still buy one from the Apple store and have it delivered on the 19th.

    .
I had an Apple 3 g until today and someone ripped it off in a flash .. kinda mad at myself for being stupid on this one .. I knew better.

So, I had to cancel all the confidential acct. info. in the iphone & go to AT&T store and order a new one. What a pain.

AT&T said ... the 3G-Ss are out in a couple of days & are on back order and AT&T will call me when the phones come in ... maybe 1 week or so.

I would have liked to have seen exactly who ripped off my phone ... :quickdraw:

    SOS

PS .. I had my phone (5 months old, combo locked, 3G, 16GB) with the 4 number combination lock activated ... but some have said that it was easy to crack the code. But, if an unauthorized user trys to guess the "unlock code" 3 times or more (and misses) ... the phone memory will be erased ??

Is this true ?? ......... Does this erase the sim card memory or internal phone memory or both ???

With the newer 3G-S model ... cnet reviews said a lost or stolen 3G-S model could be remotely tracked & remotely erased. This is super cool .. if true?

$14.99/month at Best Buy and no deductible. Covers everything except loss, theft and/or full submersion. It definitely beats the hell out of $400 and extend for 2 years or $600 without a contract.

The $30/month charge for the data and e-mail is mandatory because the phone uses so much more data than any other phone on the market. I used to have Blackberries, Windows Mobile and basic phones, my usage never went above 40 MB/month. Now with my iPhone, I am using over 100 MB/month. Web browsing is much smoother and pleasant so I surf the web more often. It is a great personal organizer as well as a source of entertainment in many different forms. I am glad I only have to pay $30/month than $2/MB.

The original iPhone's data plan was $20 which did not include 3G and came with 200 text messages. There has always been a cap on the usage, which is 5 GB, which is very hard to achieve on a mobile device. The iPhone needs to have live updating for information (weather, time, facebook, MySpace, etc.) If anything, AT&T might charge for MMS on the iPhone this fall...

Your Nokia N95 is also twice as thick with no QWERTY keyboard.

You will not be disappointed. 3.0 is awesome :D

well, reserved my phone last week...went into apple today around 11 am and it was pretty empty. My phone was reserved and I was out in no time. no line, no hassle, and i have a new phone. I am not an apple fan, but the phones and ipod touch are great pieces.
