Personally I think the Droid looks like a great phone and for the most part people seem pretty happy with it. Granted it doesn't have as many apps available for it as the iPhone, but on the upside you don't have to deal with AT&T's network or Customer Service, which IMO makes it well worth it.

I have one. I freakin love it. There are TONS of free apps. But as previously stated its brand new and there are some issues. but moto, verizon, and google are hot on the trail of the issues with an OTA update due dec 11th.
