Sprint phone service?

Any body on here have any experience with Sprint phone service. I have an original Iphone right now and am looking to update to a new phone this summer. A new Iphone will be introduced this summer and Sprint has a new bad ass android phone coming out called the HTC EVO 4G. Has a 4.3 in screen with a 8meg camera in the back with dual flash and a 1.3 meg camera in the front for video conferencing. Can record movies in 720p and has HDMI out so you can play it back on a HD TV. Also can be used as a WIFI hot spot for up to 8 other devices to hook up to for broadband coverage. Phone looks and sounds incredible. I will definitely be getting one of the two. I know how AT&T is and I here Verizon will be getting an IPhone too. My main concern is how good is sprints 3g coverage and cell phone service? Any help you guys can give would be great.

I have the HTC hero through sprint and love it. I have been a Sprint customer for about 10 years now and I have had no complaints. The one price data plan is what you will have to get, it is 129.00 for my wife and I. Coverage is good, no complaints there. The 3g is pretty fast about the same as the current iphone.

Sprint phones are paper weights here. It's so bad they don't even sell Iphones here.

 

I have verizon and I think they have to best coverage..not just form the comercials but from personal use, however sprints unlimited plan is better than verizons

 

i also have the HTC hero from sprint. been with them for 8 yrs or so.. no big complaints. my sister has the i phone.. and seems i have the better coverage.

 

i run a sprint phone.. can't complain at all about it. and i use my blackberry for everything!

 

ya know verizon puts a cap on the data stuff where sprint does not.. may be the difference you see in speed...

No they do not put a cap on data. Unlimited data means unlimited data.

 

i was told they put a limit on it.. maybe the transfer rate of the data...??.... i realize unlimited is unlimited but i suppose they could limit how fast it gets to ya...

 

AT&T signal is pretty poor at our house, while our Sprint wireless broadband card works very well. Because of this, we're considering switching to Sprint for cell service too, although we're hesitant after having AT&T (Cingular) for 8+ years. I'm interested in what others have to say about Sprint too.

Does Sprint offer any phones that could be used for tethering? Does Sprint charge extra for tethering & how much?

 

Thanks for the tethering info! From the plans I've looked at, Sprint offers free roaming so hopefully, that wouldn't be to much of an issue.

 

blah blah blah, it all depends on the area you are in. i have had cingular/AT&t since 94 and it is the best network in my area. but the new droid sounds bad ass.

 

Our company phones are Sprint. THEY SUCK! Half the time my phone doesn't ring...I just get a voice mail alert. Picture Mail might take 10 seconds...might take 48hrs.....you just never know. My texts to non-Sprint users usually have to be re-sent 3 times.

If it wasn't free I wouldn't use Sprint at all!

 

I have a computer consulting company and I have Sprint phones and Sprint PC EVDO cards(Data Modem) both with unlimited data plans. I have great success working from just about anywhere in Los Angeles with great through put.

*** I have decided not to go with the 4G. The 3G plans I have has unlimited data, the 4G has a ??GB Limit each month. The 4G network is different than 3G and is not even available in Los Angeles yet.

 

I have used Sprint for years and I have been very happy with it up to recently. I get very poor signal at my new house, and no signal at my Dads house near by.

So I am looking to switch to an iPhone in July.

BTW, the HTC EVO 4G looks like it will be an amazing phone. I just hope the next iPhone have similar features and be a little thinner & not so bulky.

Had Sprint for a little over 1.5 years now...they're about as good and bad as anyone else out there...previous user of Alltell and Verizon...they all had ups and downs...

 

I used to live in southern Oregon, and it was a very difficult area for cell coverage at the time. I would regularly travel from there to NW Oregon through mountain passes. It's been about 5 years.
I've also done some comparison while offroading, living outside city limits in NW Oregon, and inside city limits.

ATT: By far the best. Worked entire trip from NW Oregon to South. Very few dead zones, great phones in the past. Spotty in some offroad locations.

Sprint: Next best for me, I currently have this service for work. Did not work in mountain passes, but works outside city limits in NW Oregon. I can randomly get a text through when offroading. Works great in Boise, Atlanta, Eastern and Southern Washington, Southern Oregon. My IT guy gives us the low end WinMo phones, so I don't get to see all the fancy stuff, but the phone does the job.

Tmobile: plans were hella nice and they worked great back when you could set the phones to piggyback on other provider towers, but now they are hit or miss. Didn't do so great outside NW Oregon city limits, didn't have support in southern Oregon, and were a bitch to cancel when we complained we couldn't get service in Beaverton (a major city, just west of Portland)

Verizon: Dad has this with his State job. Works fine within city limits, once you get out from there it's useless. However, for some odd reason, this is the only service that works at Brown's Camp and other places I go wheeling. Just don't expect to get service on the way.

 

Had AT&T w/iPhone 3GS...switched to Sprint w/BB...one of my better choices. AT&T customer service are d-bags, and their plans (even w/rollover) are too high. Had good experience w/Sprint so far. HTCs are bad-a$$ phones too!
