do you mean the laptop acts as a modem? and whats the point of it? why not just use your laptop.

no, you use the laptop as normal, but instead of connecting to the internet via a cable/dsl/dial up modem, you use the cell phone as a modem to connect to the internet. why? well, maybe you don't have internet at home, maybe you are on the train and need the internet. perhaps you are traveling and don't want to pay Ohare $10 to use the internet in the airport. it's a pretty cool concept. i'm really thinking of dumping my home internet and buying an EVO to use for internet as well as phone etc.

or 4g. 3g runs bewtten .5 and 1.5 megs, where as the sprint 4g network is suppose to be 3-6 megs.

some of the newest cell phones also let you turn the cell phone into a mobile hot spot and connect to the internet via the cell via a wifi signal. however, they also charge more for this option which, imo, is pretty bogus considering you can tether for free.

Tap Screen, Connect laptop to phone through wifi (or more than one laptop), surf the web on your laptop through your phone.

Has Verizon limited data yet? Is it 5GB?

If so, when tethering, do NOT download music or movies. You may end up having a hefty bill.

no. right now, the only 4g phone on the market is the EVO on the sprint network. there is a second 4g on way for sprint (Samsung). Verizon is still testing their network. they are looking to start rolling out to the pubic in late 2010.

i just read tmobile isn't planning on upgrading to 4g, rather to "super charge" their 3g network which is then suppose to be just as fast as 4g.

it's an exciting time to be in the cell phone world.

Verizon has no 4G phones. I wouldn't even bother with one when they came out either. It will take years before most places even offer it. The 4G phones will be good for cities, but rural areas will be SOL for a good while.

unless you live in a 4g city, than you might as well go 3g.

thankfully, i live in a 4g city today.

Actually i believe that verizon plans to have most major markets up by the end of 2011 and their 4g larger than their current 3g by mid 2012. Not THAT far away.

    getting there....
how easy is the incredible to figure out?? i ordered mine last night. for me...it was between the droid x(which verizon didnt have either the droid x or the incredible)....the droid2 and the incredible. didnt wanna wait on the droid2(yeah...i like the physical keyboard....reckon i'll get used to a fully touch type phone), and the droid x is too damn awkward and expensive.

what are the positives/negatives with the incredible??

edit....oh yeah.......right now i have an lg env touch........which im not too fond of. cheap pos....even one of the speakers quit working a while back.

I love my incredible! The touch is freaking Saweet and it Is super fast! The only things I don't like is the battery can go fast if you mess with your phone a lot and the up and down keys are kinda small I just turn it on its side and its a full board that works great! It also helps if you hit the wrong letter It will find what you were wanting to type. I was a crack berry guy for a long time but this has to be the best phone I have had yet IMO hope that helps! I would say just buy a car charger!
