...ok, so i'm fixin to get another HDD to do backups to (make bit-for-bit images of computer HDD), ...figure might as well go w/ the SATA III (6Gbps, ...yeah i know HDD's can't attain that rate, but that's another story :D), ...but the SATA III drives are the latest generation and don't seem to be any more costly than the previous generation drives still out there....

ok, ..so can anyone tell me if SATA II controllers are forward compatible to SATA III devices, at least in so far as up to the SATA II speeds? this HDD would be in a USB (or eSata)-connected dock or enclosure, ...and at some future point could wind up inside the computer (SATA II MOBO/backplane)...

Rear camera anytime switch, 4x4 Illuminated Switch (from rcbs204) , rear view mirror lift bracket (from ImMrYo), 75 cent tailgate anti-theft. Technically not mods but give me a break I'm trying to fill space here... OEM Leather pkg, keyless unlock & ACC chime silence, BakFlip G2, Ultra Gauge EM, WeatherTech floor mats, OEM roof rack
Definitely. The drive will operate at SATA 2 specs, which will more than likely make little to no difference in typical use.
