I usually unhook my sway bar. Should get a little more flex in the front.

Any issues with that? Seems to me that would be easier and quicker to hook back up, but I figured since most guys removed them there was a reason you shouldn't let it just hang there

I agree. And some of this may have been why I destroyed my CV a couple of weeks ago out there. We noticed that now, with my new uca's and shock, it seems like the CV wont be under so much stress when flexed out.

I usually leave the sway bar on, and remove the little piece attaching it to the frame. Pretty sure this is different for 1st gens.

Being that my truck is an excruciatin 60 second walk away from me at the moment, I can't look to see how it is positioned in relation to the CV boot. I'm guessing that letting it dangle would put it in contact with the boot, but what if it was secured up and out of the way?

I think I may have missed something, and am now getting it. We were talking about the boot getting ruined from unhooking your sway bar, and leaving the piece on the truck. Got ya. Yeah, good to go. As that entire piece is removed when I unhook.

Yea, removing it won't directly damage the boots...alot of aftermarket suspension parts (LT, spindles, some coilovers) require you remove it.

I'm just lazy and not exactly a conservative driver on the street

yea I meant unhooking one side and letting the end link just hang. you could take it off completly and be fine.

Well I was hoping to be able to attend this, but I'm sorry to say I have another event to attend. My dad's poker buddies are having a big BBQ / shooting day / poker tournament that day and I've been invited to attend. There are some guys there I would like to get to know better for career contacts and hopefully some hogs out there I can shoot.

As much as I want to go beat up my still fairly new Taco, that is too good to pass up (assuming I can even get the day off). I'll keep an eye out for the next DFW event, and I hope you guys have a great day out there.

I should be able to make it for that if I can get off work, I'll post up when the date gets closer. Shooting hogs is definitely fun, and it's been a while since I've been able to do anything like that with my dad.

You guys should take & post some pics so I know what to expect in November! When I saw the post about a 1st gen 4x4 breaking CV boots (I think it was fsbrain?) I shuddered a little thinking of taking my 2WD prerunner out there.

^yeah, it was me. Don't worry. We wont be going on any of those trails. Those rocks are almost bigger than my tires. We can walk down and look at it, but will most likely not be trying that again until a front locker next year.
