Tire advice for new to me stock 08 TACO 4x4
Hi all I am new here this is my first post. Hope I posted in the right place? I selected the Texas region because I thought you guys would be more familiar with the terrain. I am needing to get new tires for my new to me Tacoma. I currently have bfg rugged trail 265 70 60 on stock rims. I am thinking about the BFG all terrain KO. I will not be doing any rock crawling. I will do some 4 wheeling at my hunting lease and a bunch of Padre Island summer trips and some loose rock river bed trails. Any tire recommendation for these applications? I had some Hankook mud terrains on a f250 4x4 diesel but they seemed to dig to much in the sand at the coast. Maybe that heavy arse truck had something to to with it though? Any opinions\advice would be appreciated.

Stick with an all terrain since you will be in the sand. Be sure to air down for the beach to around 16-18psi.
The BFG AT is a proven tire and would probably serve you great. I have heard and read great reviews about the hankook dynapro AT. I would also step up to a 265/75/16. It will give you a little more ground clearance and no lift is needed. Also the good year silent armor is a good tire. My buddy has them on his 06 tundra and they have served him very well. Great wear and seem to handle the dirt roads at the ranch with ease. |

I have heard about bad sidewalls on BFG A/T's. I have hankook dynapros and they do everything I ask them too. Good comparison here between the dynapro, bfg, and open country

I am using BFG AT 265/75/16s on mine. I like them. I had no problems at the beach either.

Thanks for the input! I went with the BFG AT! They look good on the Taco, but I did notice my mpg went down about 1mpg per gallon. I am assuming it is the additional weight of the tires?

You are correct about the weight dropping your MPG. Mine dropped when I went to an AT and dropped again going to a MT.
