Possible Relo to S.A.

What's up fellow Tacoma enthusiast!? Dropping in to get some fellows opinions on life/living in San Antonio. I might possibly be taking a new job over there and mulling it over for now since I have time. Besides the heat, what are some pros and cons? Family life? Affordable housing? Quality of schools? Diverse? Any thoughts on good solid neighborhoods? I have a young daughter so safety is paramount. I've browsed through numerous city-data sites and most reviews seem promising, but some were not good at all. I don't believe those types of reviews too much though and would rather get some info from real people who live there. Hope you guys can give me some advice.

Well lets see.

Home location all depends on what you can afford. I would try to look for a home in the NW area. Good schools and the home prices are not bad at all. Biggest thing here is the heat.

Lots of stuff to do here. SeaWorld, Six Flags, a zoo but it dont compare to any major zoos its kinda sad really.

Probably looking for a 4b/2.5ba/2car on at least .25 acre between 225-275k. Property taxes seem to be pretty high. True? Is the North side a better area? Zoos are o.k. but not too big a fan of them. How's about outdoor activities i.e. fishing/hunting? One of the things that's drawing me there is the opening of the Circuit de Americas in Austin. Looking forward to another American event for MotoGP and F1.

I grew up on the NE side of San Antone in Live Oak. My school district wasn't too bad (NEISD). I went to Roosevelt HS. If you can get in the Judson School District your daughter would be better off there. Home prices are reasonable, and you can find a good community. Texas is all about hunting and fishing so no problem there. There is plenty to do in San Antonio and the surrounding areas, New Braunsfels is nice too. Any more questions, just ask.

Something like that price range I would try to live out side the city limits (bexar) Taxes will be lower. And with that you should have no problem finding something in Helotes,Tx which is in SA. Start looking there.

Hunting and Fishing is HUGH here in Texas lots of places to go. A few big lakes around and rivers. Im not a fan of hunting and fishing but alot of my buddies are. And Austin is only about an hour fifteen min drive away.

Might be a change in possible plans. How is the Corpus Christi area compared to San Antonio?
