Ah, thats going to need major planning, and wed probably have to leave really early to get there and enjoy the day. Which park you thinking Cody?

I'm still thinking Texas City. Convoy>Ferry>camp/fish/bonfire?

I'm in. 2/2 should work for me. Don't care about the location, but still stock suspension/tires, so nothing overly crazy for this guy, yet!

I vote for Bryan beach. I don't think you can make a fire on the dike.

Exactly what off road parks in Austin? I don't think "wheeling" in undeveloped subdivisions counts as an off road park. Would much rather keep driving til I get to Marble Falls and hit some real trails.

As for the Texas City Dike: no camping & no fires + fees to get on to the dike.

    www.texas-city-tx.org/RecTour/dike.html

Best bet is Bryan Beach to camp, fish and have a fire or just do a day trip convoy out to Crystal Beach via the ferry and drive the beach as far as you want to go until you get to Rollover Pass then enter back on the beach after that.

It would be cool to hit up Palmer. Seems like some cool trails.

I wouldn't mind cruising out to do some camping, fire, socialalchoholizing. Been needing to do a "shake down trip" on some new outdoor gear anyway. Limited to 2wd with stock sport suspension though. Got a bottle opener in the bed to use though if someone will pull me out when I get stuck. ;)

I hope you are supplying what goes with the bottle opener as well. Might not get pulled out if you only have a bottle opener and nothing to use it for

So, I have a couple Austin people on board for this adventure as well. They're interested in details, once everything gets decided upon.

No hatin' here. Was only curious as to what actual off road parks are in Austin that i hadn't heard about yet. I have 4wheel drive and a rear locker that I prefer to use on actual trails with rocks and steep climbs rather than as a designated PreRunner Recovery Vehicle for anyone who thinks "trail riding" in an undeveloped subdivision area is anything close to wheeling.
