    They have to make a "reasonable attempt" to contact the owner before going that far. When it happened to me, "reasonable attempt" was sending me a letter via certified mail -- which never reached me as my mail was on hold while I was out of the country.

    Can one of the members here in law enforcement run the tag? There has to be a back story on this. Maybe someone was injured or got sick and just can't do anything about the vehicle now.
