Houston: Need Help with lift installation and misc

Trying to get a feeler if there's anyone in the Houston area willing to help out another Tacoma owner mod the truck and/or looking for shop recommendations. I don't have all the hardware yet, so timing is TBD (within 2-4 months hopefully), but like I said just trying to see my options. What I have planned:
  • Drill holes into frame to complete BAMF Slider installation - 3 per side
  • Remove guide brackets from spare tire "compartment" to accommodate larger tires (285/75/16)
  • Install BAMF Cab Mount Chop plates
  • Install Lift (OME 3" 885, Dakar, & LR UCA)
  • Install extended rear SS brake lines
The main reason I am asking for help is because I don't have all the right tools or space to do the work. Out of the above list, I can drill the holes in to the frame with a good set of bits and patience, so maybe just asking for pointers or anything to watch out for.

I'm also still on the fence about the rear brake lines. I haven't seen a clear cut answer if they're needed with the OME lift. I'm leaning toward getting a new set just to be on the safe side.

As stated, timing is unknown, I'm trying to see what my options will be once everything is delivered. I've installed a minor lift on a jeep and have been working on vehicles randomly throughout my life, so I'm not mechanically challenged. I am asking for help, not for someone to do the work while I sit back enjoying a beer! (unless it's a shop of course)

What do you want in return? Beer, restaurant gift card, gas card, cash? I'm sure all of this will end up taking at least a full Saturday. The help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just have the sliders welded on? How many legs do the sliders have?
How many holes per leg do you have to drill?

Im going to weld mine on. Well whnever they get there!!

Everything else is pretty easy to do. But like you say with the right tools of course.
Im willing to help for a few cases of beer ; D

I purchased bolt-on because I liked the ability to remove them for repainting etc. They bolt on with a total of 7 bolts per side, 4 on the side (through factory frame holes), and 3 on the bottom. The three on bottom are what I have left to do. As a side-note, I'm kind of glad they're removable because they're showing rust all over. Will probably take them off, find a way to clean it really well and re-coat with rattle can or something (suggestions). Not looking forward to it, but oh well. How do you guys battle rust being in Houston/Galveston? Kind of surprised these look the way they do after ~8 months. I'm pretty good about washing down the truck after playing around SLP or similar...

A buddy of mine use to have a shop off spencer and beltway. But its gone now. I usually do my work in driveways

As far as sliders go, it might be easier of you just took newspaper and tape up the truck then sprayed it. Bolting and unbolting gets old afterva few rounds

Also OP check Jlee I know at one time you could get some badass drill bits from at cost and he includes it in the shipping.

I would definitely agree with this...it was a PITA to get the 4 side bolts on the first time. However, I figured since I'll probably be taking them off to drill the bottom holes, I might as well clean them up at that time. Unless most people leave them on while drilling? Not sure what the norm is there

I'll check with Jerry. I bought my sliders from him, and now I want the CMC, so maybe he'll add the bits in to my CMC order. Thanks

I need some help getting my lift on too- been trying to get my buddy's schedule to line up with mine but it just isn't happening... so if a mod meet is planned I'd be interested (that is if anyone would help me put on a rcd db lift bhaha!)

Douche bag lift?? Db? Have to cut and weld. 3 inch lift is a lot easier

Depending on when I could help out. This weekend is out. Starting tomorrow after work I am removing a drop bracket lift from my truck. Re-installing the cross member and going with Fox coil overs, TC uppers and spindle gussets. Hope to be wrapped up by Friday pm. We will see

You could sleep in the truck if we dont finish?? Or as susan said we can do half. Not sure what half he is talking about. Just the cab and leave the bed. Or do the bed and leave the cab? Or just the driver side only

I'm down to help, you won't need longer brake lines but it really helps on the rear when changing a leaf pack. Like Kase said, the fronts can be swapped in an hour, you don't have to reinstall the UCA bolts backwards though (I didn't) it's just more of a pita.

The rear will be 100000x easier if you have an impact with a deep socket to remove the u bolts too.

I'm going to order the fronts preassembled. Don't want to do that myself, especially if it'll only take an hour or so to install if preassembled. I'm not quite following you on the UCA install part. Then again, that's why I'm asking you guys for help :)

Are longer lines only required for >3" lift? Do you think it's worth spending an extra $75-$100 for new lines just for an easier install? Granted, I'd have to spend the time changing lines and bleeding brakes before even going through the leaf pack swap...

The UCA install isn't bad, it just feels weird putting a hammer and cutting your $30k truck. Also if I could go back the first thing I would do is change the brake lines, you don't need the super long ones in the front either but it doesn't hurt in the back. There is a member here that sells them, pick your own color, for $100

Driver's side inner fender, slice it upwards? then bend outwards, the bolt literally almost falls out and you can install it the way it came out instead of backwards, and when you bend the fender back it goes right back in place, no hammer required. Passenger side is different but easier though
