In a two weeks I will be moving across from York, PA to Los Angeles (~2900 miles). My truck is an automatic double cab short bed SR5 without the towing package. I have installed a hitch and trailer lights and I plan on moving my stuff in a 5x8 Uhaul. The max gross vehicle weight of the trailer loaded plus the weight of my truck is just over the weight the 8100lb weight capacity specified in the manual, though I don't think I have that much stuff that I will be moving. How critical is it that I get a transmission cooler? This is pretty much the only towing I am planning on doing in the near future since I don't own a trailer.

have you looked in to those moving services were you fill the container and they will move it. like http://www.pods.com/Moving.aspx its and option so you do not have any wear on the taco and to offset the cost it will save gas money and toll and it will make your trip across country more enjoyable.
