towing what gear?

Hello TW friends, question I just bought a travel trailer total lenght is about 20 feet and about 3500 lbs. Im new to towing I have a 2010 dc pre runner v6 with a tow package. Do I drive the truck in 4 th or D? Thanks for your input.

I always tow in 4. Rpms are not that high going 70 in 4.

you will prob need 4 most of the time, maybe D when cruising on flat roads. put it in D and if it hunts then kick it down to 4

Thanks for the replys. What does hunting for gears mean? Is it more of a feel or a sound the truck makes when its trying to shift.

And I thought hunting for gear(s) was when you go to Cabela's the weekend before hunting season starts. Oh wait! you meant transmission hunting. Ya, 4th gear most of the time, wouldn't stay in 5th unless it was flat and had a tail wind or slight downhill.
