Look at what I tow on the previous page... I am creeping on the limit at about 6,200 ready to camp. Does my truck handle the weight well, Yes. It has power to pull up steep hills, though the engine does have to work. It stops the trailer well with a properly set up brake controller. The EBC Brake Pads and Rotors do make a notable difference in brake performance while towing and I recommend them to anyone that tows close to the limits. Would a 5.7 Tundra tow better, of course. But I think most people here will tell you the Tacoma tows surprisingly well for what it is. IMHO, I would buy the trailer, the Tacoma will tow it. When it comes time to replace your truck... Tundra!:D

They look a little heavy, I just pulled a Jayco 213 (4300lbs Dry) across Canada 4000km it was hard up hills but Ok, but really shitty gas mileage.
Check out the Jayco 213 it has a similar layout as the spree with no side slide out.

I think that if towing up to 5000+ it may be alright only occasionally but if doing that regularly then a heavier duty truck would be a lot safer and more capable. These are good trucks but face it, they just are not made for heavy tow. If a person is really going to be doing a lot of interstate towing on a regular basis, then just get the right truck for doing that. Either a full-size gas V8 or preferably a diesel in 3/4 or 1 ton so the truck will have appropriate brakes and drivetrain for towing heavy.

Anyone attempting to tow trailers like seen here pushing over 6000# is kidding themselves if they think the tacoma can do that safely or consistently. These trucks just were not made for doing that.

you need to post these pics in the thread about full sized trucks, the one where there was a dude that showed a ford with a weak ass tractor on a trailer and said something about how it was better than a taco

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
Forgot to post this picture earlier. Heres my truck loaded down inside and out with the trailer and inside of the jeep loaded as well.

My friend's '85 yota with 8" lift and 35" toyos. He snapped 4/6 studs off the drivers front so I trailered it to his house for him.

Custom body work...boat trailer came of hitch, hit tailgate and Rammed stick thru lower valance while towing boat....hmmm, Maybe I should get a new boat?!?
I do not tow these together, I would if I could, however! Camper is managable with the load leveling hitch and sway control. I can maintain 65-70mph on the interstate w/o to much excitiment (approx. 3,000rpm @70 OD off). Boat, no problem as it and the trailer full of fuel weigh less than 2,000lbs!

Old pic (need to update it here) but this is my setup. 2005 KZ Jag 24BH. Dry 4300# with a dry tongue weight of 350#. Loaded it's just over 5000#. Does fine for most of the trips I do but i'm seriously considering a 5.7L Tundra to start doing some cross country trips and stuff above 4000ft.

I live at 6,100' I know what you're saying! I wouldn't hesitate to go cross country in my current set-up...contemplated get a 1/2 ton...but I really like my Taco as a daily driver!

If you have the heavy tow package they will tow 6500 but it is an e ticket at the amusement park stock tire sway way to much rear axle weight to low max I would recommend is 5000 lbs. The heavy tow package comes with trans cooler and engine oil cooler

Same for me with the daily driver thing. I've only pulled about 4500 miles but I have 90,000 on my truck at an average of 22mpg. Definitely beats what the 5.7L Tundra would get in my stop-n-go traffic commute. If I can swing it though I'm keeping the Tacoma as it's been one of those trucks that will be very hard to pry from my cold dead fingers as the saying goes.

Camper trailers tow differently than utility trailer their weight is distributed in the middle I tow a 25ft Holiday rambler it sways much more than my utility trailers

Through all the miles i've towed trailers, i've found that there are several things that affect how the trailer will behave behind the tow vehicle. I've found that tongue weight plays a large role, but also the position of the axle(s), distance from tongue to axle vs. overall trailer length, and also just having the right hitch on the truck. Towing a double axle trailer with a hitch that is at the improper height, for instance one that is too high, can really wreak havoc on control and feel of the trailer behind the truck. For this reason, I use an adjustable height billet aluminum hitch from Anderson Mfg. that has a 2" ball on one side and a 2 5/16 on the other so i always have the right height and the right size ball on my truck. :)

My truck towing prob. a 16' steel with wood bottom double axle no idea on the weight. I have the 2.7 so it is slow on hills. Plus all the grass clipping, leaves, and brush.

Saw it at the gas station:
