2012 Surveryor 264. Towed very nice. No problems and the day I picked it up it just snowed and there was 40MPH winds. I was very impressed.

The total weight of everything is slightly under 4000 give or take a few pounds with everything. It tows perfectly fine. And it's a head turner. I tow this 60 miles to the place we ride quads at and 60 miles back and its all interstate and a few backroads. I have since taken the wheels and tires off and went back to factory wheels with hankook dynapro atm p series 265 75 16 tires. For weight and gas mileage issues. The wheels made the truck a turd when it came to towing. With the stocks it doesnt ever downshift. Only on steep inclines. With the aftermarket setup it would upshift and downshift constantly. I also removed the tool box so the quad in the bed sits more foward. I added some rear suspension parts and removed the front lift as well to help with towing. I learned as you get older the bro lean is for the young guys. Factory stance or rear air bags is better for towing. Function over looks is how i use the truck now. And if you wonder why i have to tow so much is because the wife has a new focus...can't justify putting a hitch on it. and plus its under the weight capacity of the truck and i only have to take one vehicle. And yes this is legal in Georgia. You can haul 2 trailers with no cdl as long as the total length is under 75 or 85 ft.

I'm more than willing to bet the ball and plate is attached to a cross member put in between the truck frame. That is how a lot of gooseneck hook ups are setup.

    Define trouble?

Do I know it's back there? Yes.
Do I white knuckle drive everywhere? No

It pulled a lot better when I was running stock tires. Pulled it this weekend on 34s and decided I definitely need to re-gear. I was running around 60 psi in the airbags and it handles pretty good like that.

And yes, a gooseneck hitch when properly mounted is mounted to the frame. Not even a metal bed can handle the load. I'm running 7 inch channel iron for a cross member and the sleeve for the ball is mounted to that.

This weekend I pulled it back home from my parents place and had no problems running at 75 mph for the 150+ mile trip. I averaged like 8 mpg but was kinda expecting that.

I don't know jack about towing, but isn't putlling something that heavy super hard on the engine/tranny? As in, life-shortening? I've seen small trucks like Rangers and 4 banger Toyotas blow engines/trannies a number of times from towing stuff that is too big.

It's debatable. As long as you don't drive stupid and don't dog it I don't see it causing to many problems. I've got 170,000+ miles on my truck and neither the engine or tranny has missed a lick.

he did, he cut the bed and bolted or welded it to the frame. i think there is a thread about it some where on here.
