How easy is it to add a 4-wire plug to the factory towing harness?

I have an '09 TRD with the OEM tow package. I would like to add a flat 4-wire plug to the harness so that I can use a receiver mounted brake lamp. There are aftermarket systems available that require some type of in-line module but can I just identify the proper wires and splice into them to power the flat 4-plug?

    Thanks,

    Ray

I have an adapter.....but there are times that I need to hook up to both the 7-pin and would like to have a flat 4-wire also.

Old thread, I know... But I'm in the same boat and saw this same harness earlier. Did you ever buy it? Did it work?

I've left 2 of those 7 round to 4 flat adapters on the bumper... Looking for something more permanent for my boat trailers with the 4 flat plugs.

Did the OP ever figure out what works? The Hopkins 7/4 that was linked is supposedly only for the Tundra?

I'm trying to get the same result as OP - an independent 4 pin connection somewhere off the rear bumper that can power a hitch mounted brake light. I'm tired of tailgaters and late brakers and want something to get their attention.
