tow strap

    I have tow strap and the hooks on both side are cut off, whats the best way to reconnect hooks to the strap?

    Don't. Hooks are notorious for breaking under load, releasing the stored energy in the loaded up strap and bringing the hook pieces back at the pull vehicle like a bullet. People die from shattered strap hooks. The best thing to use is a load rated D-ring with a locking clevis pin or threaded pin and a dynamic recovery strap. These have strength and flex to hold up under "heavy tug". Hope this helps.

    I don't know to much about tow straps but the one I got is stamped with dura-edge, something about 20,000 lbs and 12,000 lbs, flat and about 4 inches wide does this sound like a recovery strap?

    Yeah. That's going to hold up better than anything on your truck that you will hook it to. Recovery straps have more stretch than tow straps, which aid in moving recovery by snatching out the stuck vehicle like a stretched out rubber band. Recovery straps typically have a twist in the end loops and are double layered on the sewn portion.

    ok cool, so whatever was on the ends of this strap is gone can I add a d-ring or threaded pin and if so how?

    It will be fine, NO HOOKS I repeat NO HOOKS! I have seen them break they fly very fast and wreck whats in its way. Leave them off its one less thing you have to worry about flying in the air if something breaks.

    No D ring do them straight to the recovery point on the vehicle, Hooks, hitch with pin in it, or a shackle if you have s replacement bumper

    As long as you use the strap for towing only, you shouldn't have a problem using it on a hook or d-ring.

    That strap is not mean for pulling somebody out that is stuck, that is why things break when people use them.

    Please get a recovery strap for pulling out stuck vehicles. I used a tow strap for the longest time as well, but then I got an ARB recovery strap. A huge difference when pulling somebody out with one!

    That strap is trash. Damaged cribbing is very dangerous to use. Buy a new one.

    Ditch the bitch unless you know an industrial sewer. I had a guy that I used to bring fire hoses with the ends cut off and he would fold over and stitch them for me if you dont know one Id keep it for emergencies if your new strap breaks.

    Ya I had the longest straps out of anyone rolled a 75 foot one out the back of my JEEP one day and my buddy looked at me like where in the hell did you find a strap that long and why do you have 3
