Can I safely tow this 18ft. 5th wheel w/ my 2014 Double cab V6 AT w/ factory tow package? I realize a sliding hitch would be necessary for sharp turning.

Those scampers used their own special hitch. Not common at all.

The 5'er you showed a pic of has a conventional fith wheel hitch. I would be suprised if you could find bed brackets that would fit between the fenders. It would most likely be a specialized hitch. Big dollars.

As for the slidding hitch, I doubt there would be enough bed lenth to work with if you have a double cab. You would have to have the hitch slid all the way back, thus you would be hanging all the weight to the rear past the axle. Not good for our frames at all.

I know you would have to put over load air bags on the rear suspesion to carry the extra weight.

I don't think it would be wise to use a tacoma to pull a small fivth wheel camper.

You would need tow mirrors that would have to stick waaaaay out.

I'm thinking you would be way ahead if you just picked up a decent bumper pull camper.

I deal in trailers and have no issues overloading tow vehicles, but I could never recomment tugging that camper with 1/4 ton truck. The extra money you would have to put into towing it safely, would be better spent on a used bumper pull camper camper.

I own a 5th wheel camper and I will freely admit that towing a 5th wheel camper is far supperior to a bumper pull, but this might be the exception to the rule.

I hope you find my opinion usefull

koditten is right! I sold my 5er shown in my previous post and bought a pull behind. It is narrow enough to not need mirror extensions.
