Tried to install an aftermarket tow hitch today and it will not fit. The mounting holes for the bumper mounts are off about 3/16 of an inch on one side. Should i try and drill out these holes bigger? The metal in the hitch is very thick.

I have double checked everything, and it's the correct hitch. Not sure what brand of hitch it is, but seems to be very well made except for the mounting holes being off. Instructions show it fits a 2005 to 2013 tacoma. My truck is a 2015, but i'm sure its the same as the older models.

it should be the same, toyota hasnt changed these trucks in 10 years, can you return in and get another, me personally i wouldnt want to drill a hole out larger and have a load being pulled on it.
maybe someone a bit more informed will chime in.
    good luck OP

The hitch looks the same as the pics, but does not have a brand name on it. The seller has offered me a 50% refund if i keep it. What should i do?

how did you pay for it? i payed 50 bucks for mine off of craigslist (new)
honestly i dont know what your plans are for your truck but if i had a 4x4 i would do a full replacement in the rear and buy one with the hitch incorporated.

Paid 113 for it on ebay, I only tow a small 11ft flatbed with atv's and motorcycles.

Take the refund and keep it or get no refund and still have it...

For 3/16 I'd just enlarge the holes. There's always the possibility your frame is tweaked as well. You won't be towing much, I'd be comfy with a ball on the bumper. If I was too worried after enlarging the holes I would hit it with a welder when I was done.

I put the etrailer on mine was nothing like stock , called etrailer and they asked if mine previously had hitch which I said it did and they told me none of there tacoma hitches work if you had a hitch before and told me I was responsible to send it back. I understand I didn’t read all fine print but I surely will not ever buy from that online store again

There just may be a good reason why the hitch specified 2005 to 2013 and not 2015.
In any event 50% refund is better than 0% refund

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Return it. Its not for your truck. I"m guessing you paid at least a couple dollars for your truck. Do it right. There's a reason listing specified to 2013 not 2015
