First off, Thanks for all the information I have already read. Feeling super confident about the trip. One last question though, I am driving a 08 Taco, TRD Sport and going to tow a Subaru Impreza Wagon on an Uhaul Auto Transport from Long Beach, WA to Jacksonville, FL due to a transfer this summer. I have read that we are good on weight for the tow, my question would be how does the payload effect towing and the whole ability of doing it safely with out overdoing the truck. We are going to throw stuff in the truck bed for things we will need before the movers bring our stuff.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Mainly just curious if I should put stuff in the truck bed or in the Subaru we are towing?

How much stuff weight wise you think?

It really just depends on how much the stuff weighs, and how much tongue weight you'll already have from the trailer. If it squats the truck too much with the stuff in the bed, transfer it to the car.

Weight wise, you'd probably be fine putting it the bed as the auto trailers typically carry most of the weight over the axles.

That being said, since it's a long trip, I would put it in the Subbie so you don't have to worry about people stealing things at fuel/rest stops.

A couple hundred pounds. Was thinking of getting a tonneau, but now with your advice, it's going in the Subbie.

I towed a 4500lbs trailer with about about 500lbs in the bed from New Hampshire to New Mexico without issue if that helps.

Sounds like OP wants to stay within the payload spec of his truck. You were certainly over.

You are correct. I was reading that since I have the tow package for the TRD Sport that I don't need to make any after market changes. Still nervous about this but ready for the adventure.
