I just got my 2010 Tacoma Prerunner with a towing Package. I purchased the 7 to 4 wire plug from Walmart and wired my trailer, all lights work. The 7 to 4 wire plug is made by Hopkins and is number 47345. The plug seems loose when I put it in the plug under the hitch.

Is this the proper Hopkins adapter that I need?

    Thanks for your help

    Mike

If your truck came with the towing package it should have also come with the converter to 4 pin. Mine did. 2010 Prerunner with towing package. It even said it came with the converter on the window sticker under towing package. Mine was not with the truck salesman had to go looking for it. I would not leave without it.

I tried one from autozone and it didn't work. I went to the stealership and bought the toyota one it was only like $8. It works fine.

    Amaes,

Does the toyota one fit in tight, the hopkins works but I think it would fall out without being zipped tied on.

    Thanks for your response

I think you will find that the plugin cover has a lip on it that prevents the plug from coming out. At least mine does. I had the same concern when I used mine for the first time. After crawling under there to get a better look I felt better about the situation. Plug your adapter in and pull on it to see if it will come out...
