Everything you need to know about towing with the Tacoma

As for boat ramps, you'll probably be fine, I mean boats were launched and recovered, with the family station wagon and basic pick-ups long before everyone and their brother had an suv with 4wd. Best advice for that is replace the crap stock tires with a good set of someone's AT tires, and start in second gear to reduce the potential for wheel spin on the slick surface of the boat ramp.

I pulled my Seadoo boat with my parent's base-model 1998 4cyl 2wd without any ramp problems at all. The boat and trailer are about 2,000lbs. Keeping up my speed on the highway going up a grade was painful, but the boat ramp wasn't an issue at all, and I'm pretty sure the tires weren't awesome either.

    You should be fine.

You shouldn't have a problem unless the ramp is really steep and slippery.

I hauled and launched a 24' pontoon boat last weekend with a 2.7. That little 4cyl is a workhorse.
